Short Film Brief/Pitch

Our media coursework brief was to create a short film in its entirety, lasting approximately five minutes, which may be live action or animated or a combination of both, together with a poster for the film and a film magazine review page featuring the film.

In our group of 3 we were to create a pitch for our short film idea in which we gave who we would aim it at where it would be exhibited and ideas for scenes and a poster.

Our chosen film is called - I Heart U

We think it will last 3/4 minutes long and it will be made to entertain under the genre of Romance.
In order to exhibit the short film we would approach Cable TV channels as well as using internet sites such as Youtube to show the film.

Our target audience is to be 15-25 as this age group tend to watch short films more as well as using the internet and Cable TV etc more than an older or younger group. We are not targetting however a specific audience except for those who are interested in romance.

Our main genre is Romance with some comedy if possible. Our comparative text would be to the Taylor Swift Music video where we got the idea of passing messages to and fro.

Outline of the scenes:

- A young girl is laid on a bed with a necklace on
- The window is open
- A paper aeroplane flys through the window
- It reads 'hey'
- Girl goes to the window and sees the boy - they exchange smiles
- She goes and writes a note back sayin I Heart U and kisses it with lipstick
- She puts the sign up to the window
- She looks back and he is gone
- Theres a knock at the door
- She unlocks the door
- Takes the necklace off and places it around the boys neck
- They have a passionate embrace.

This is only a very quick break down of the scenes and there will be more to it when we film it.
We also drew a rough idea for a poster for the film which would outline the necklace and key into a heart shape, possibly with the two characters faces in the heart with the title and the tagline of ; You have the key to my heart.

This image is of my quick sketch idea for out film poster, which incorporates the boy and the girl, and the image of the necklace with the key on which is passed on to the boy as though she is giving him the key to her heart, we have also thought of the idea of having a keyhole in the shape of a heart, with slightly shaded glass on the door where you can faintly see the girl with the necklace around her neck.
